5 Tips for saving a ton on your next vacation:

  1. Plan ahead. Use promotional travel periods, like late November to book for the next year. Not only do you get some sweet deals by planning far in advance, but you also get a better idea of how much you'll need to spend for the entire trip and you'll have plenty of time to finance it, if need be. Flights are also typically cheaper between 2-6 months in advance of travel dates.
  2. Use your miles! With a variety of rewards programs available from various credit cards, use the new year to start paying off your regular monthly bills-- like groceries, gas, tuition, gym memberships, take-out -- with your travel rewards card. Watch the miles pile up and then gift yourself or your family a suddenly-affordable late summer vacation.
  3. Travel in the off-season. Airlines and hotels often slash their prices when you visit vacations destinations during non-peak travel dates. That means summer in Florida and the caribbean, spring in Colorado, or winter in California. Families should look to avoid school break weeks as well.
  4. Save on food and activities. Choose a hotel with a free breakfast, or book a room with a kitchenette, so you can prep small snacks and meals and focus on indulging in your evening dining experience. You can save quite a bit if you cook just one or two of your meals every day. When it comes to exploring your destination, local parks, historical museums, beaches and botanical gardens are usually open to the public with little to no cost entrance fees. Also, research your destination in advance to time your trip to coincide with free events or festivals.
  5. Use a Travel Advisor! Rather than booking directly with the hotel or airline, or searching for hours on a computer for a package, simply call an InteleTravel Advisor and get a quote for FREE. They have access to exclusive offers and perks that online booking sites do not have. They can also give you a ton of insight on where to stay, tour, and eat to stretch your dollar. And their hard work costs you nothing!
